Dinner and Dancing with H-Bug

Dancing!

Hailey was in town tonight because Matt and Katie had a wedding in St. Paul. Jamie was going to watch her and asked Jake and I if we wanted to spend time with them. Joe wanted to go ice fishing, so it worked out perfectly. We first went to see my grandma at the nursing home. Jake loved watching the birds and running around with her big cousin. They are quite the entertainment for the little old ladies!
After some playing in Jamie's apartment, we went out to dinner at The Chatterbox, in Highland Park. If you are not familiar with this restaurant, you need to go! They have four locations in Mpls and St. Paul. This bar and restaurant has board games for you to play at your table! They also have game systems you can play, for a small fee. What a great idea! It would have been perfect, if not for a crabby 22 month old. Poor Hailey wanted to play games with Jamie and me, but Jake had other plans. He was content playing with Connect 4 for a few minutes, but it was hard to keep him happy the rest of the time. Jamie and I decided we must have looked pretty comical. Game pieces, booster seats, and utensils were constantly dropping on the floor under our table. Oh, and Hailey's shoe got stuck under there, too. I had a great bowl of chili, which made up for some of the craziness.

After dinner, we went back to Jamie's apartment. The kids played with the dog's leash. They each had an end and were running around the love seat. It was much safer than it sounds. They were both laughing and smiling a ton. I asked Hailey about a Hannah Montana song she sang to be a few months ago that has a dance that goes with it. She couldn't quite remember the words. Jamie came to the rescue and found it on You Tube. Then, she found the video that teaches the dance. We all took our turns trying to figure it out...including Jake. Joe will be so proud!

MN Zoo

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jake and I met Jamee and Chloe at the Minnesota Zoo. We were there to help celebrate the bears' birthdays. The kids even were able to see the bears eat their birthday cakes! Actually, Chloe was busy people watching and Jake was crying because I would not let him out of the stroller. He calmed down by the time we saw some fish. He loves looking at the fish! We let the kiddos work off some energy in the toddler play area. I think Jake was able to get Chloe to come of out of her shell (and stroller)!

Survived my first Night Hike!

A few weeks ago, I went on the 6th grade annual trip to Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, MN. We left Tuesday morning at 7:30 (with a stop in Rosemount for one of my students to get her medicine that she should have already taken...). We returned Friday at 3:30. This was my second year going on the trip. I had so much more fun this year. I think it was just knowing what to expect that made it better. We were pretty much drama-free, which was nice. Last year we had lots of girls that had drama about EVERYTHING! I had a chance to be on the Tree Tops Rope Course three times throughout the week. It was easier to get through the course this year, except for the ice on the wooden planks and wires Thursday morning. I also co-led two night hikes through the woods. I definitely got my exercise with them! It was nice to come back to my boys...just not to teaching!
